Remnant Youth Ministry

Image

Hey guys, Pastor Jeremy here. I just wanted to give you a little bit of an update on what’s going on with our Remnant Youth Ministry. We’ve been averaging over 30 kids every week, and have an amazing group of teen leaders! We have youth helping out in many areas of the church including kids ministry, worship, first impressions, and in the sound booth.

I am very excited about our current message series. We have been spending the last few weeks talking about purity. It has been an amazing time where we have discussed purity of the soul, purity of the body, and purity of the mind. We started off talking about purity of the soul, because we believe that purity in our lives starts by being right with God. Then we moved on to purity of the body where we talked about some of the issues kids will deal with. We discussed drugs and alcohol, body image, and sexual relationships. We will be following this up with purity of the mind, which one really delve into the way we think about purity in out lives. Now this is where you can help out. At the end of the series we want all of the kids to make a purity pledge, and have a special ceremony where they will all receive purity rings. We have kids from a wide range of home situations. Some of these families cannot afford these rings. If you would be willing to help sponsor a youth so they can receive a ring we would love to have your support. If you are interested please contact me at jeremycourliss@gmail.com or call me at 520-518-0742.

Thank you so much for your prayers in your support. Continue to pray as we move forward and complete the series.

Modern Day Martyr part 3

Most of you know that we live stream our services every Sunday on USTREAM, which also keeps a copy of the videos for the last 3 months or so.  Well, we’ve started putting together a higher quality version, which will be featured on our YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/theplaceaz.  Here for your viewing pleasure is our first uploaded sermon video.

THE PLACE Renovation in Full Swing (pics)

This week has been a whirlwind of activities at THE PLACE! We are in the middle of a renovation project and expanding the seating by 50%. It is an incredibly exciting time at the church and in the community of Wickenburg where we are located.

One of the main projects was the destruction of a half wall that broke the ‘sanctuary’ area up. With saws in hand, we drew first blood and declared that the wall’s time at THE PLACE had come to an end!

After the initial cuts, the wall went down very quick. Before we knew it there was a steady rain of drywall dust as we chopped the wall into pieces and began moving it out of the church forever!

With the wall out of the church, we were left with a large gap of concrete that we had to do something with. It’s a good thing Cruz knows a thing or two about tile because, before we knew it, that gap was gone and the floor was looking really good. In fact, for being a church that is in a bowling alley, I think that is was looking GREAT!

As you can see, the project is moving along nicely. Thank you so much for your support and the love that is being poured out for this project and for the direction of this church body. We have great momentum right now as we strive to fulfill the call of God in our community… and ultimately the world.

We couldn’t do this without you! Please continue to stand with us in prayer because we know that we are just getting started!

THE PLACE’s Church Bus is Taking the Maiden Voyage! (video)

Easter Sunday is only a day away and I am happy to say that “The Bus” is going to be taking its maiden voyage! That’s right, the bus that was given to THE PLACE will be picking up people for the Easter Sunday 11:15am service. This bus has been a miracle from the very beginning. Let me remind you from a video I cut in December of 2010 about how “The Bus” came to be…

Now, it is up, running and ready to rock! My prayer is that this is the first of many bus trips as we work hard to serve the needs of the community of Wickenburg. Thank you for all your prayers and support. Please continue to pray for God’s wisdom as He unfolds His plan for our church.

Much Love,

New Chairs Arrive as THE PLACE Expands! (pics)

THE PLACE is growing by leaps and bounds and now we have seats to put people in! 50 new chairs arrived last night.

Image

Pastor Greg, Tara, and Ronni worked for about 3 hours putting all the chairs together. Screwdrivers, plastic and cardboard were flurrying around the sanctuary as the chairs took shape one by one. As they listened to worship music and shared life stories, the project slowly moved to completion and the place where they could look around and see the finished project…

Image

The chairs arrived just in time for Easter Sunday! We start some serious renovation on the day after Easter, but until then there are plenty of seats for people to come together and worship the resurrection of Jesus. If you are in the Wickenburg/Phoenix area, come on out!

A Bible App That's NOT 'Lame-oh' ~ Verse(d)

So, I’m sure you’ve experienced some “LAME-OH” Bible game apps in the Droid market. There are all kinds of apps out there, but I think I may have found one that is equally interesting and fun. It is called…

*** Verse(d) ***

And it’s purpose is easy… Memorize scripture through some fun games and fill ins. Through this process you will be enabled to better apply God’s word to your life. It’s a great combo for life transformation!

I have had it for a little over a week now and I really enjoy it. Check it out. It’s free, so if you think it’s LAME-OH, just delete. But if you like it like I do… it just may have the power to change your life forever!

Give it a shot!

Life, Money, Hope: 'A Hope Defined'

At THE PLACE we begin to look closely at the subject of HOPE. Many wonder how we can live in a place of HOPE when it seems like everything around us is crashing down. We watch the news or see the bills continuing to come in and sometimes don’t know how we are going to stay afloat. The wonderful news of the Bible is that Jesus came to give us hope. In this message we will be defining this word and examining it through the Bible. From Little League shut outs to beaten and bruised prisoners singing praise to God, you will leave this message uncovering the meaning of hope and discovering how to hold onto it in your life.
