THE DANIEL PLAN IS BACK!

We are happy to announce The Daniel Plan is starting up again on Saturday, March 7th at 5:30 pm at The Place 4 Kids and facilitated by Craig Melfi and Roy Fegley. If you are interested in checking out The Daniel Plan please feel free to just stop in and see what it is all about at 881 W. America St. right next door to The Place Church.

The Daniel Plan has changed many lives in one way or another. It all depends on the individual and how they wish to apply the plan to their life. Some people make instantaneous change and some take baby steps, it all depends on them! This is a 6 week program geared up to get you started on a healthier you!

Here is what few of our Daniel Plan Alumni has to say:

“When I started the Daniel Plan one year ago I was skeptical as to whether this diet would work, as for I become disinterested in things quickly, until I read the book The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier You. Then I was hooked. It has great recipes, and basically easy to follow. If you’re hungry, you are not eating enough! I discovered this is not a diet, it is a plan, also it’s a walk with God. Making friends in the group I believe has helped my faith in a lot of things. I have lost 81 pounds to date and still am doing The Daniel Plan today! Join, Commit, and Succeed!” What an amazing testimony by James Loughry!

“I learned that it if you ask God for help with trying to be and get healthy he will show a strength you never know you had. Also that doing it with friends is easier than alone.” Thank you Craig Melfi!

Jayne Hellier says, “Knowing God is with us and sharing reasons for past struggles and how to stay focused is so helpful to success!”

Carroll Pulis has a great point here she says, “Having an accountability partner is really important to keep on track.”

I learned what God had to say about taking care of my body and by choosing a healthy lifestyle you actually honoring Him. Also that when you make healthy choices you feel better and can be more effective in every area of your life so you can be the person and live the life that God wants for you!” this is a fabulous testimony from Michal Combs!

There are many others that have lost weight, changed the way they look at food, and have taken up exercising. But the one thing they all have in common first and foremost is they found a closer relationship with God.

“Many diets and fitness plans use guilt as a motivation, but that never works in the long run. You can guilt yourself into doing anything short-term, but the change will last only as long as the guilt (or fear) does. In contrast, The Daniel Plan is built with love as the motivation: Experiencing God’s unconditional love for you, learning to love him back, learning to love whom God made you to be, and learning to give and receive love from others in a small group setting” from The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier You.

As you can see The Daniel Plan has and is impacting people in our community! Speaking of community The Daniel Plan is open to anyone interested outside of THE PLACE Church! So why not grab a friend and see how the Daniel Plan can effectively impact your life, we hope to see you there!

"A Hope Personified" Message

Partake in the final message from the summer series at THE PLACE entitled “A Hope Personified”. In this message we will take the previous week’s definition of HOPE and build on it as we take the hope that is given to us through Jesus and begin to pour this hope out into the word. The ominous words of “Hush Child, God Ain’t Dead” begin a discussion that moves from the final words of Jesus to the streets of Boston before the the American Revolution. You are sure to be touched by this message highlighting a subject that all of us need more of… HOPE.

Feeling Crappy? Cheers!

Today has been an absolutely AMAZING day! In the midst of darkness, the light is so much brighter! Let me explain…

We’re church planters… that’s what we do. It’s our job… our profession… our calling… and our passion. Church planting isn’t the most flashy job around. You have planted a seed and you’re helping it grow. You are reaching people with the Gospel and trying to help them grow… but there’s no huge budget… no staff… and nowhere to turn in times of trouble. There are people that stand with us and help us, but we all have been working hard for the past six months pouring out every ounce of love to the community of Wickenburg. There have been some highs and some lows along the way. We’ve shouted praises and cried tears. We’ve gained friends and lost friends. We’ve seen miracles and waded through discouragement. But this week was lower than any other week we’ve had.

We are preparing for a church wide fast over the month of October and have felt the increased heaviness since the decision had been made. The calendar is set… the banner is ordered… and our hearts are ready for what the future holds. But still, discouragement has a way of rearing its ugly little head. We’ve had ups and downs over the week, with more downs that ups. Then, we had church today…

It’s always nice to see the faces at church. People that we have met and grown to have a deep love for over the past six months. The sermon went well and we shared in the wonderful gift of communion with each other. But still… there was just this heaviness on my heart. Leaders began coming to me and sharing that there was a heaviness in their hearts. So, we decided to call a special meeting of prayer. We invited the church and at 1p today, we came together in my living room to pray.

A small group of us came together and shared scriptures and prayed for one another… for the church… for the future and the direction of the congregation. My spirit jumped for joy at the ministry that was taking place between each of us. I was watching each person’s gifts being used as we prayed and talked and cried together. It was wonderful!

I left that time so encouraged to do the work that God has for us in Wickenburg and throughout the world. I know that we are at the CUSP of something great… and I can’t wait to witness the miracles that are about to take place. I am honored to have been called by God for this task!

I was reading this quote today that really spoke to me. It said…

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.” ~ G.B. Shaw, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, 1893

There are things to be done. Some days are good and some are bad… but there is still something that needs to be done. God is calling me… you… us to make that change. We need to be able to work through discouragement and hard times… but that can only be done when we lean on prayer and the joy that can only be found in fellowship.

If you’re having a hard time, lean on God… friends… your church. Lean on people that love you and watch the discouragement fade away and be replaced with a love and joy that can only come from God Himself! Keep your head up! The view is so much better!

Much Love,

Suicide, Cutting and Hope (Video)

There is an AMAZING organization that is working hard to raise the awareness of suicide prevention. Many haven’t heard the story, but it is one that needs to be heard. The organization is called TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms). Being that this week is Suicide Prevention Week, I thought it was a good organization to highlight.

Check out this video of Renee Yohe. This difference was made because a Christian decided that he wanted to do more than just TALK about his faith. He reached out to Renee with the love and hope that can only come from Jesus.

If you’re interested in the blog, check it out here.

Do you want to support this organization through purchasing some merchandise? Check it out here.

More than anything, I just want to encourage you to reach out with love. There are so many out there who are hurting and they don’t see any hope at all. Sometimes, that hope needs to be expressed through an individual ~ and that individual could be you.

Keep making a difference! You are designed to do something great… start today!

Much Love,

Consistency is the Key (Photo)

I recently had an encounter that made an incredible impact on me. A person made a simple comment. It was one of those comments made that wasn’t really supposed to shake your world or give you any great insight about yourself ~ but this one did.

It was simply this… ‘You guys are so consistent’.

Consistent is not anything that I ever considered myself. Eccentric? Maybe. High Strung? Definately. Passionate? Absolutely. But never consistent.

However, consistency is what really makes the difference when it’s all said and done. It’s the thing that will keep you moving when things aren’t looking good. It’s the thing that will get you out of bed when you’d rather run away from the world. It’s the thing that makes you say ‘I WILL’ when everyone else says ‘YOU CAN’T’. It is really more necessary in our lives than I ever imagined before.

I guess that’s really the key… it is consistency. Lots of people get hot for a little while and cool off as quick as they heated up. Many have great ideas until the implementation of those ideas cause sacrifice, pain or discomfort. The key to success is the ability to be consistent with those things that are important to you.

I want to encourage you today… get consistent. Whatever it is that you are passionate about… get consistent. Start with small consistent steps in the right direction and, before you know it, you’ll be changing this world!

You got it in you! Be encouraged and keep walking!

Consistency is the key!

Tears, Pixels and Vulnerability (Audio and Video)

Today has been quite an interesting day. It’s Sunday… so that’s always a busy day for the ‘pastor’, but it was different today. In fact, this entire week has been a struggle… and I normally wouldn’t describe my weeks with the word ‘struggle’.

I shared a message today at THE PLACE on relationships… which sounds easy enough. It was the way the message traveled that made it difficult. I started off in my mind with an easy subject ‘Sex and Love ~ What’s the Difference?’ It was going to be a fun and extremely relevant message. But when my fingers hit the keyboard, they started moving an entirely different direction. I started writing about pain and relationships and isolation. I started to write my heart… my memories… my reality. I went to a place I hadn’t visited in a long time and tears peppered my keyboard… but i continued to type.

I was scared at the pixels which stared back from my screen. The words brought pain that i hadn’t touched in a long time and i questioned whether the words were just for me or if they were meant to be shared. The more i prayed, the more i sensed the confirmation to share the words peering through my soul. With fear, i obeyed.

(If you’d like to listen to this message, simply click here to hear it.)

I ended up sharing the message today. I tried to find a way out of it. I worried that i would start crying and not be able to finish my message. I worried that it would be too personal. I worried that it was only for me. I finished the message.

One by one, people came up to me and threw their arms around me. There weren’t many words, simply tears left on my shoulder as a confirmation that they understood what i went through… they related with my reality… they were in that place too and they were glad someone noticed.

I think that’s the real message for us as Christians. It’s OK to experience pain and mess up and miss it. It’s OK to stand before a group of people and bare your soul. It’s OK to say that you don’t have it all together and that you have made some major mistakes in your life too. But, through those mistakes, you’ve learned and grew as a person.

So many Christians feel like they have to have it all together or be perfect for the people. You don’t. You just need to be real and vulnerable and continue striving to walk a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

Today, be encouraged. I know that I am. There is a freedom in being real and people will find great strength ~ even if its through your weaknesses.

Love you guys!
GP

09.05.10 ~ STICKY SIGNIFICANCE – “Relationships”

Join THE PLACE as we dig deep into some very painful areas of life. What do we do with pain? What do we do when we’ve been hurt and we want to swim out to an emotional island and not let anyone else near us? Let Pastor Greg open up some deep wounds in his heart which will encourage us all to take steps toward healing.

Enjoy!
