08.01.10 ~ "Seven: Envy"

Here is the sixth message in our summer series from THE PLACE called “7 ~ Examining the Solutions to the Seven Deadly Sins”. This week we are going to take a close look at Twitter, a recent theft and a sissified king named Ahab. Mix them all together, and you get an amazing message on envy!

THE PLACE transitions from Summer to Fall Schedule (photo)

Even though some think that the town of Wickenburg closes down every summer, THE PLACE has been busy with activities. From helping the less fortunate to having some great fun, we’ve truly made the most of the hot summer months! Here are some of the highlights…

Agape Aguila ~ We ran a program in partnership with the school which fed children in an impoverished town close to Wickenburg called Aguila. During the two sessions of summer school in that town, we were seeing close to one hundred kids a day. We were able to build relationships with staff and kids and express the agape love of Jesus through our actions.

Youth Trip to JumpStreet ~ We took a bus load of kids to an indoor trampoline park called JumpStreet. It was SO MUCH FUN! We jumped around, mastered some flips and got to share a great experience with one another. All the teenagers are truly looking forward to our August 18th launch date for THE PLACE for teens. Check out my backflip here!

Church Wide BBQ ~ Tara and I opened our home for a church wide BBQ. We saw our house packed to capacity as people from the church got to meet one another outside of the church and began to develop relationships with one another. We are bursting at the seams and it was so nice to have people from the different services get a chance to meet each other.

Fall Small Group Launch ~ We will be opening a small group this coming Monday, August 2nd. This small group will be located at our home, 41 Northridge Cr.. and will run from 7p – 830p. We are covering the book of John from the New Testament and look forward to some thought provoking discussions to arise from the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Feel free to come on out this Monday!

Well, that’s enough for now! I recently transitioned from my job at the census, so I do plan on keeping the world informed on our progress through the blog, so stay tuned!

Until next time, be a blessing!
